From frizzy hair to melting makeup – the heat and humidity can lead to all sorts of inconveniences that no bride or guest wants to run into! As always, an unforgettable lady calls for an unforgettable birthday celebration! The stylist’s lucky mother was the guest of honor at this blush beauty of a garden party where classic and elegant mingled with art deco. You can’t go wrong when you combine fabulous La Tavola linens, and stunning calligraphy with LOTS of hand-made sweets. It’s ALL about the details at this feminine celebration. Lucky for us Tiffany Amber Photography was in attendance to capture every stunning shot! Follow along for intimate moments as told by stylist and daughter, Jacqui Marino of Deets & Things.

From the designer: "Since most of her grandchildren have late summer birthdays, by the time my mother’s birthday came around each fall, she always urged us not to make a big fuss. This year, however, with my brother and his family in town from the East Coast, we were determined to give her a worthy celebration."

"I fell in love with La Tavola's blush velvet collection and built the color palette of the celebration around it, mixing in buttery blush and muted hues. Cherished Rentals Terrain dinner collection paired with their vintage floral china to give the table a feminine and dainty feel. Each setting had a calligraphy leather menu and glass tile place card s that I painted and gold leafed."

"Playing with dessert ideas was my favorite part of designing this party. Sweetlee Made and her team did an exquisite job executing the vision from their gorgeous floral cakes to the prettiest array of donuts. Each beautifully crafted cake was topped with a hand-lettered cake topper by Dear Heart Signs - a staple for all birthday celebrations."

"As we sat back and enjoyed the candlelight evening with our close ones, we knew “these were the best years...” and relished in the joy and laughter of an unforgettable evening."

When An Actress Weds A Casting Director In Palm Springs, It’s Bound To Be A Blast!

Katie Leclerc and Brian Habecost met on a movie set and sparks flew! When filming came to end, Katie flew back to her home in Texas and Brian stayed in LA. While they were apart, they spoke every single day until four months later when Katie made the exciting jump to move to the the city of Angels. And if that wasn’t cute enough – fast forward three-and-a-half years later and Brian is ready to pop the question (in movie-worthy style, of course!) “He had decorated the entire house,” Katie recalls. “And since we’d just moved in, there was no furniture, just these reminders of us. Flowers lined the hallway to the living room, where there was a huge banner that read, ‘Katie will you marry me?’ When I saw it, he got down on one knee.” The Hollywood couple and their 140 guests brought their nuptials to Palm Springs for a destination wedding at one of our all-time favorite venues – Colony 29. We’re not sure if it’s the bright pink pops of bougainvillea, the soaring palm trees, or the desert hills landscape – but we definitely have a serious soft spot for Palm Springs. That being said, we’re sure you can understand our excitement to be sharing this effortlessly romantic Palm Springs wedding on the blog today! Jake and Alex allowed the natural beauty of the desert surroundings at Korakia Pensione in Palm Springs contribute to the decor and overall vibe of their wedding day – and let us just say it was magic! Move over Whitney Port, we’re dubbing this wedding one of the most beautifully done Palm Springs weddings of all time! Go right ahead and see for yourself!

How did you choose your wedding venue & location?

"All I knew was that I wanted to get married outside and I did not want it to rain, so naturally we chose a desert location. When looking at Palm Springs venues, Korakia was the only venue that actually spoke to me. It has an effortless elegance that exudes romance and the bougainvillea and palm trees are unbeatable. No other venue came close. Ironically it did rain on the wedding day. It was an unexpected flash shower that took place while the sun was still shining, but it was all clear by the time the festivities started."

What was your favorite moment of your wedding day?

"The ceremony was the best part of the events portion of the day. My oldest best friend married us and we wrote the whole ceremony together with her. We had our parents give us marriage advice as part of the ceremony and I loved that. That was a really special and important part of the whole thing for us. I asked all of the important women in my life to borrow a gold bracelet for the day so my wrists and lower arms were covered in all different shapes and sizes of gold bracelets. I am a “more is more” kind of gal (hence the drag queen at the after party), so I loved that from an aesthetic standpoint, but also I’m sentimental and a sucker for tradition so I really loved having a part of my favorite women with me on the day."

How did you choose your color scheme?

"I knew I wanted red lipstick and red nails so I had to have a bit of red in the flowers. For the bridesmaids I had been feeling these black and floral dresses so we just kind of went with that. Plus I’m a New Yorker (now) so I like black. The plants at Korakia contributed a lot to the colors in the photos and the colors of the day. And my husband and I both love gold/disco/cheesy so we had some gold in there."

What advice do you have for other brides?

"Pick the right person to marry :slightly_smiling_face: And don’t feel bad if you and your partner get stressed about the wedding. Everyone gets stressed about the wedding. It’s normal. Go with your gut and feel free to make last minute changes if the mood strikes you. I got a little nervous about all of the attention before walking down the aisle so Jake and I had an impromptu “first look” before the ceremony. At the time it wasn’t exactly what we had planned but now I look back and I think of it as one of the sweetest things."

Where was your honeymoon?

"Cabo San Lucas. We stayed at the most amazing hotel called The Cape (a Thompson/Sixty Hotel). It was unbelievable and you could spot a whale from the open air lobby. I still dream of that hotel. Honeymoons are the best."
