1. How did you choose your wedding venue & location?

There are so many factors to consider when choosing a venue it can be so overwhelming! I knew I wanted an outdoor wedding. I wanted the space to feel organic, open, warm and inviting. Honestly, I found Quail Ranch by an accidental Google search looking for another venue with a similar name. I definitely didn't picture Simi Valley as our ideal wedding location but the property grounds are stunning—classic California architecture with Spanish influence, situated on top of a hill and surrounded by avocado orchards...I can't really quite explain it but once we were on the property, it became pretty clear it was the perfect place to host our wedding.

2. How did he propose?

We spent the day moving into our first apartment together. I thought we were headed in the direction of marriage but seeing as moving in together was a big step, I didn’t think he would propose the same day! It was Fourth of July and apparently, Tim had planned to propose that night during fireworks, with a camera carefully placed to capture the moment, but wailing car alarms during the show thwarted the attempt. Instead he proposed by candlelight later that evening!

3. How did you choose your color scheme?

Oh man, it was such a hard decision for me. My style is very eclectic and I wanted the colors and different design elements to be reflective of that. After you get engaged, everyone's first questions are "have you set a date?" and "What are your colors?" It was difficult because I didn't want to get locked in to using 2-3 colors and having everything match. After scouring color schemes on Pinterest for dayysszz, I finally settled on a Pantone color scheme built around rose quartz and serenity blue with metallic accents in some of the decor.

What was your favorite moment of your wedding day?

This is hard to answer because the day was filled with so many special moments- it's amazing how quickly it all goes by. One of my favorite moments was our First Dance. We took a couple dance lessons and learned a routine but I was so wrapped up in last minute wedding details, I didn't have it memorized and I'm also a seriously terrible dancer. Luckily, Tim was prepared; throughout the dance he guided me by casually whispering the next steps in my ear. It was so much fun dancing with him and we pulled it off beautifully!

5. What advice do you have for other brides?

I feel like I could write a book for this one but, my best advice is to try and not sweat the small things, people won't notice all the last minute details you kill yourself trying to finish— instead, focus on the big picture, the real reason the wedding is taking place— so you and your partner can exchange vows and celebrate your love with friends and family. Also, I highly recommend practicing your vows ahead of time 😉

6. Where was your honeymoon?

We honeymooned in Spain for two weeks, rented a car and explored various parts of Eastern and Northern Spain including: the Costa Brava region, Barcelona, Rioja, Asturias and San Sebastián. Tapas/Pinxtos, Wine, Repeat. Other than food and drink, highlights of our trip included touring Salvador Dalí's house in Cadaques, Gaudí architecture (La Sagrada Família, Park Güell), a magical wine tour in Rioja with a saint named Jose, and being graciously hosted at a friend’s family summer house where he showed us all his favorite local spots.
